I only have alerts for new posts, comments, and replies. I don't care about likes. That's such a social media thing that attention seekers track with obsession. Sure, reactions to posts are nice, but I prefer real interactions through comments and replies.
I completely agree with you.
It really depends on the post. Some people like you ask questions that creates more engagement while others just post random pics. If I have a thought to share, I usually do. If I simply want to acknowledge that I read it and appreciated what they had to say, I typically will just like or laugh emoji. And i don't think the number of likes has changed... just whether you are paying attention to them or not. Imagine such a prolific blogger is always getting some.
You might correct about my heightened awareness of them.
I typically leave a comment if I like something, but not always.
Love the Spice Rack costume!
I like your spicy rack much better than that one.
Well, thank you!
Nice rack!!!
On the weekends I tend to be tired and like posts more and comment less. During the week I chat.
Ahh, I see.
I used to be down on the practice of leaving a like with no comment, but have been doing it more frequently lately. It’s sort of a “I was here” in situations where I have nothing interesting to say.
Yeah, I understand.
Spicy rack indeed!
For sure.
I have been, primarily, a reader and commenter. But, as time has passed, I've been less inclined to comment. However, my use of the 'like' button is sparse.
As for notifications ... I turned those off yeats ago!
I'm about there myself.
I turned off any alert notifications for 'likes', etc as they're not substantive enough to bother with in my opinion.
I'm close to doing so myself.
I usually try and leave a comment, but not always. I noticed this in the "stories"section just the other day. It amazes me, that the ratio of views to comments is so ridiculous. Hundreds, thousands of views and maybe 2-3 comments. Then when there is a comment, it doesn't apply to the story, but the attached photos! "wow she's hot!" Am I expecting to much?
Heeheee, you think like me it seems.
I think in many cases they don't even read the text and are reacting solely to the picture. That is what the post is testing.
@CleavageFan4U By the way, Nice spice rack! Ha Ha Ha!!!
Not being a vociferous person I sometimes find it hard to think of a meaningful comment to make. Not all postings need a comment, a like should be enough to let the poster know that they posted something that people appreciate. Sometimes I hold back because plenty of other people have made a similar comment that I would make so is one more would make me look like someone who can't think of something original. Sometimes I hold back because I fear being misunderstood or that I could draw the ire of someone who can't stand an opinion different from their own no matter how respectfully it is expressed. Look at it this way, I don't read all posts in my feed and don't comment or like/emoji the majority of the ones that I do read, so if I merely like something that you posted that meant that you posted something that I felt was worth reading and reflecting on.
Fair enough.
COOL 😎
Yup
